Frequently Asked Questions

Where are some schools that have already chosen Book Fairs by Book Ends?
We have worked with public schools in Andover, Arlington, Carlisle, Cohasset, Holden, Lexington, Melrose, Newton, Reading, Sudbury, Wayland, Westwood, Wilmington, and Winchester; and Independent Schools including Belmont Day School, Bement School of Deerfield, Fayerweather School of Cambridge,  Fenn School of Concord, Friends Academy of N. Dartmouth, and Lesley Ellis School of Arlington, are just some of the over 50 communities and independent schools that have partnered with us since the 2005.

What is our school’s profit on a book fair?
Depending upon sales volume your school may earn from 10% to 20% cash profit or some combination of cash and books.  Option to take profit as books to earn more.  Turn cash into books at an exchange rate of:  $100 cash profit =  $150 book fair books.  We also offer a 10% discount to teachers who purchase books at the fair.

What forms of payment are accepted?
Payments may be made with cash, check, or credit card.  We provide the point of sale equipment including a credit card scanner to gather sales information during the book fair.  The credit card purchases are then processed at our office at the end of the book fair, so parents/teachers may notice a few days delay on their statements.

Are there specific days of the week or times that you deliver and pick up book fairs?
We work with each school to determine the best days when our drivers/trucks can be in your community for delivery and pick-up.

Do you offer set-up assistance?
Yes, we offer set-up assistance.  We bring in all our pre-loaded racks and carts and put them in place with your input.  Some additional merchandise is in labeled tubs and is displayed on tables the school provides.  It is ideal for several volunteers to be on hand and available to set up these displays.  With volunteers, a typical fair takes 2 hours to set up.  This also includes time to review, with the person in charge of the fair, all the essential ordering forms and invoice paper work .

Will we have enough books?
Our fully loaded carts & racks contain multiple copies of all titles and are designed to provide you with more than enough inventory for the size and expected sales of your school.  We also utilize a "Last Copy" system so every child who wants a title will be able to purchase it.

What materials are provided for promoting and running the book fair?
Several weeks prior to your book fair you will receive colorful posters to promote the event.  On delivery day the Book Fair Cashier Tub will include a credit card scanner, additional copies of helpful paperwork, order forms and bookplates.  We also provide our computer check out system software to help your cashiers work quickly and efficiently.

Do our volunteers have to count the inventory both before and after the fair?
No.   Our computer sales programs take care of tracking the inventory sold.  Once our truck arrives packing up your book fair generally takes 2 hours.  Again, it is ideal for volunteers to be on hand to help pack up table displays and prepare the carts & racks for loading on the truck.
